About Me
I'm a 24 year old web developer, graphic designer, and musician / recording engineer living in Bowling Green, Ohio. I have been involved in web development for over seven years, building websites for myself and others. I am highly motivated and well organized. I take great satisfaction in seeing a project go from conception to completion.
With an educational background in Instructional Design and Technology Education (I earned a Masters in Career & Technology Education, Bowling Green State University), I bring to my projects the perspective of a teacher and communicator, and not simply a coder or graphic designer. Through being able to understand information architecture, user interaction, and how people process information and learn new things, I can craft websites that meet users where they are and take them where they want to go.
This background has also given me tools to evaluate and improve upon a work once it has been deployed.
Work History
Along with several years of freelance and volunteer work building websites, I have spent the last year or so as Web Development Specialist in Marketing and Promotion for Bowling Green State University's Continuing & Extended Education (CEE) department (whew! That's a mouthful!).
As Web Development Specialist, I was tasked with maintaining and updating CEE's various program websites, as well as implementing new features, such as search, dynamic content, and e-mail marketing initiatives.
Before working for CEE I spent two years teaching an introduction to Visual Communications Technology course at BGSU. In this course, I introduced students to a variety of visual communications topics, including typography, photography, video editing, presentations, and various software tools that aid in the visual design process.
Skills
I have been coding XHTML, CSS, PHP, and MYSQL for years now, and have recently begun to master Javascript and Flash. On the software front, I am well-versed in the Adobe CS3 applications, especially Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Illustrator.
Additionally, I can learn new software and programming languages in stride. I have been using computers since I was very young and bring to my work strong problem solving abilities.
